Stirling and District Philatelic Society

The Stirling and District Philatelic Society is stamp club for collectors and philatelists based in and around the central Scottish city of Stirling. First established in 1937 we have a long tradition of being a contact point for philatelists in the region. Today we are a small, friendly and welcoming group with a wide range of collecting interests. Examples of which are....

  • Mint British Commonwealth

  • Italian Area

  • Postal History and covers

  • Used Europe and associated territories

  • Thematics

  • Post cards

  • etc

We are a member of the Association of Scottish Philatelic Societies and are always happy to welcome new members to the club. Subscription rate is £10.00 or £5.00 if you join part way through the year. Please contact Bill Troup on 07717684363 or by email to [email protected] for any further details that you require.

The club meets fortnightly between September and April. Club meetings are held at the Allan Centre in Bridge of Allan at 19:30. People normally start arriving for a chat from 19:15 and the meetings finish at 21:00 although again, people often stay on a bit longer. There is ample parking at the Allan Centre as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The meeting room is on the ground floor and there is a ramp access if needed.Directions using Google Maps for Allan Centre

The meetings feature presentations of stamps or related material by either members of the club or visiting speakers. We are not a specialised stamp society so the subjects covered are wide ranging and diverse. We also make periodic visits to other local societies and philatelic events and we have a annual "8 page" club competition.Meetings are open to all and guests are always welcome. Please feel free to turn up on a night and introduce yourself.

The club runs a "packet book". These are small approval books of stamps circulated among members for sale. A proportion of the money received is used to fund the club. These are also available to members of other societies if desired but postage costs may be quite high. The circulation is set up to start in Septemper at the beginning of the season.
